INSPIRATION
In 1921, Gabrielle Chanel commissioned Ernest Beaux to create "a women's perfume that smells like a woman," extraordinary and powerful. His nose suggested a visionary composition that called for an unprecedented use of aldehydes. Mademoiselle selected version 5 of the fragrance and decided to retain this simple number as its name. In 1924, she launched Eau de Toilette N°5.
