As a child, Yves Coueslant, one of the founders of Diptyque, spent his summers in Do Son, Ha-Long Bay. The sea breeze carried the intoxicating, spicy aroma of tuberoses. Do Son has the delicacy and persistence of a childhood memory in Indochina; the memory of a flower, between lightness and delight.
At Hai Phong market, tuberoses are wrapped along with jasmine and ylang-ylang in large canna leaves to be used as offerings.
