Composition
This Eau de Parfum is inspired by the fragrance with which it shares its floral aldehyde signature. This floral bouquet is composed around May Rose and Jasmine, and the top notes are enlivened by citrus accords. The aldehydes give it a unique presence, and the soft touch of vanilla offers an infinitely sensual trail.
INSPIRATION
In 1921, Gabrielle Chanel commissioned Ernest Beaux to create "a perfume for women that smells like a woman," extraordinary and powerful. The nose proposed a visionary composition that appealed to an unprecedented use of aldehydes. Mademoiselle selected the No. 5 version of the fragrance, deciding to keep this simple number as its name. For this new perfume, she chose a radical bottle, dressed in a white label and topped with a carved stopper. In 1986, Jacques Polge, Chanel's nose since 1978, reinterpreted his predecessor's olfactory score to create a more expansive facet of No. 5: the Eau de Parfum.
